What is an ingrown toenail?

Ingrown Toenail

Ingrown toenails are typically very painful, they are more common in young adolescent males. Causes include tight footwear (toebox), improper nail cutting, poor hygiene and involuted (curved) nails.

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Redness at skin

  • Pus or fluid

  • Open wound in skin

  • Pain (worse in tight shoes)

  • Nail discolouration

It’s important to get these treated early, this means more than antibiotics alone from your Doctor.
